Subject: Security Alert—Vehicle break-ins on Redlands campus
Public Safety would like to advise the community of incidents that took place early this morning on the main Redlands campus.
As captured on University surveillance cameras, at approximately 4:45 a.m. a male and female suspect used a metal spike to smash the windows of 14 student vehicles located in the north parking lot of Anderson Hall. The suspects entered 12 of those vehicles and rummaged inside for property; the other two vehicles sustained window damage but did not appear to be entered. The suspects, who appear to be in their early 20s, were wearing hoodies and jeans.
This information has been shared with the Redlands Police Department as part of its ongoing investigation. At this time, Public Safety is working to contact those whose vehicles were damaged to assess and determine what property, if any, was taken.
This appears to be a random act, and no other area on or around campus was affected.
The incident serves as a reminder to all members of the University community to take reasonable precautions:
Our highest priority remains the safety and security of our campus community members. Please contact Public Safety at 909-748-8888 or ext. 8888 with any questions.
